About the Role
This position is responsible for receiving, storing, ordering, and issuing supplies and equipment, as well as assisting with the daily operation of supply services, including distributing supplies and equipment for the school division. The role also serves as the Supply and Logistics Supervisor in their absence.
Responsibilities
- Act as Supply and Logistics Supervisor in their absence.
- Assist with pulls, deliver textbook orders, and manage textbook inventory using Tipweb software.
- Prepare and list auctions for surplus equipment.
- Receive, store, order, and issue surplus, textbook, and furniture inventory.
- Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure correct pickup, delivery, and transfer of inventory, textbooks, and surplus items.
- Load and unload materials, supplies, furniture, mail, and other items onto/off delivery vehicles, pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
- Accept deliveries from vendors, inspect materials against specifications, and verify shipments against packing slips.
- Fulfill warehouse requests for furniture, textbooks, flags, or other stocked items and supplies.
- Conduct annual and special inventories as directed by the Supply & Logistics Supervisor.
- Use computer systems to track inventories and work requests, generating accurate reports for management.
- Check new equipment and materials against specifications.
- Answer inquiries from school employees and officials regarding supplies in stock.
- Perform warehouse housekeeping duties, such as sweeping work areas, minor furniture repair, and bundling/disposing of scrap material.
- Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Requirements
- Completion of high school or GED.
- Several years of warehouse/supply experience and training.
- Technological proficiency for maintaining automated records and reports.
- Thorough knowledge of modern supply room and warehouse techniques and principles.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet drivers, and hand carts.
- Possess and maintain a valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or acquire one within 60 days of employment.
- Possess an Air Brake Endorsement or acquire one within 60 days of employment.
