Purpose and Scope

The Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan. In addition to the essential responsibilities, a Warehouse Specialist provides daily work assignments to other storage personnel (e.g., Shipping/Receiving clerks, Material handlers, Forklift operators, Shipper packers, stock clerks) assigned to work center, which includes performance of general duties and responsibilities associated with the efficient flow of materials and processes associated with the warehouse function.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment's storage plan.
  • Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials, examines stored materials and reports deterioration and damage.
  • Removes material from storage and prepares it for shipment.
  • May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.
  • Verify materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, notes and reports discrepancies and obvious damages; route materials to prescribed storage locations; stores, stacks or palletizes material in accordance with prescribed storage methods.
  • Makes detailed work allocations as instructed by the supervisor and/or customer maintenance representative.
  • Responsible for furnishing sufficient and accurate information to employees working under his direction.
  • Interprets information, answer questions, review, check/inspect work, and eliminate ordinary difficulties.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Six to twelve months job-related experience and/or training is required.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle is required.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

  • Typical warehouse environment with no unusual hazards.
  • Frequent lifting up to 20-60 pounds, kneeling, standing, and walking, routinely sitting, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/or organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Note

  • No clearance requirement but the contract and/or the site requires US Citizenship to be approved for access.
  • (includes NACI / T1, MRPT, CAC): Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Compensation & Benefits

  • This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA).
  • In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act.
  • The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.
  • Compensation Details: $18.49
