About the role
The Warehouse Operator is responsible for the shipment, receipt, and distribution of materials in a timely and accurate manner. This onsite role in Fairbanks, AK supports Sandvik Mining, a global leading supplier of equipment, tools, parts, service, digital solutions, and sustainability-driving technologies for the mining and construction industries.
Responsibilities
- Update and maintain warehouse location system
- Assist in cycle counting and physical inventory
- Prepare export documentation as required
- Maintain shipping supplies inventory
- Arrange shipping and transport
- Accept or reject vendor inventory transactions
- Build relationships with the workshop team and internal/external customers to ensure smooth operations
- Participate in customer on-call service as required
- Expedite urgent orders to meet customer needs
- Identify and report unsafe work habits, workplace incidents, or near misses
- Comply with SMRT safety policies and applicable government, customer, or industry regulations
- Account for all materials and supplies in the stores facilities; audit goods received into the warehouse
- Oversee receipt, storage, and shipment of materials, including related reporting
- Prepare and coordinate schedules for shipping and receiving to control the flow of goods and regulate warehouse space
- Ensure the effectiveness of operating procedures, space utilization, and maintenance of facilities and equipment
- Operate a forklift and lift up to 50 lbs
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent years of experience in a warehouse environment
- 6 months of related warehouse experience
- Commitment to being a team player and improving operational efficiency
- Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
- Legal right to work in the United States on an indefinite basis without employer sponsorship (temporary work authorizations, including OPT, do not meet this requirement)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to successfully operate a forklift
- Proficient computer skills (receiving orders/locating parts)
- Functions effectively as an independent worker
Schedule
7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pay
$25 to $32/hour
