About the role
As a Warehouse Operations Lead, you will manage all logistics and warehouse processes for a growing fiber communications company. Responsibilities include ordering, receiving, order picking, staging, yard management, and inventory control. You will load inbound and outbound carriers, contractors, and associates, and take personal ownership of warehouse operations, including safety, organization, and cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with internal policies and OSHA regulations
- Track material usage and coordinate orders to maintain sufficient inventory levels
- Schedule appointments for inbound carriers (FTL, LTL, Parcel)
- Receive and validate inbound shipments (quantities and condition)
- Coordinate yard-to-yard transfers
- Manage returned materials from contractors and systematically remove inventory from projects
- Complete systematic inventory transfers
- Pick and stage orders for outbound material disbursement requests
- Load outbound shipments to contractors and associates
- Maintain inventory controls, including a monthly warehouse/yard audit
- Coordinate the disposal of scrap materials
- Oversee the maintenance of all material handling equipment (preventive/repairs)
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
- Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external partners
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
- Work safely with minimal instruction and operate a forklift and other heavy equipment per OSHA safety training
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; prior communications/fiber optic materials experience is a plus
- 5+ years of experience as a Warehouse Technician/Manager, preferably in a zero-loss warehouse/yard
- Proficient computer skills with an emphasis in MS Excel
- Ability to work in a cross-functional, solutions-based environment
- Proficient communication skills (written and verbal) for all levels of the organization
- Proven and demonstrated planning skills to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the warehouse
- Equipment maintenance: ability to analyze and perform simple diagnostic procedures
- Previous experience with data entry processes and internal/external systems preferred
- Experience working in a cross-functional team while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and operate a forklift, pallet jack, and related equipment
- Ability to work with basic hand tools and other specialized equipment with training
- Operate and maintain company vehicle/equipment safely and professionally
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Willingness to work as a team and independently
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
