Warehouse Material Handler II

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Material Handler II to support our facility in Richmond, Virginia.

About the role

We want the right Warehouse Associate to join us at Ryder and work in the safest supply chain environment with state-of-the-art equipment. This role involves handling retail consumer goods and operating powered industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and apply Warehouse Management System (WMS) order instructions
• Recognize and correct potential process errors before actions adversely affect the customer
• Identify damaged product at any point in the warehousing process and take appropriate action
• Pull orders accurately as assigned
• Stage orders according to carrier location and verify the number of pallets picked as well as stage location
• Prepare receiving, storage, and shipping documentation while retaining product accountability throughout the logistical process
• Follow location and work center safety and security policies and procedures
• Train others in various warehouse functions, including the safe operation of powered industrial lift equipment
• Perform housekeeping duties and other assigned tasks
• Operate forklift equipment or other warehouse machinery

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of two years of related warehouse and powered industrial lift experience
• Ability to read, perform basic mathematics, and understand and respond to written and verbal instructions in English for safety, work instructions, and policies
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
• Ability to input data into a computer system
• Willingness to work overtime as assigned
• Some positions may require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer

Skills

• Ability to learn/operate powered industrial equipment, such as stand-up and sit-down forklifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, etc.
