Warehouse Lead

About the role

The Warehouse Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate operation of warehouse activities within the transportation and warehousing industry. This position is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse functions including shipping, receiving, picking, packing, and inventory control to meet organizational goals and customer expectations. The Warehouse Lead will manage and motivate a team of warehouse associates, delegating tasks effectively to maintain productivity and safety standards. They will also collaborate with other departments to streamline operations and resolve any logistical challenges that arise. Ultimately, the Warehouse Lead ensures that all warehouse processes run smoothly, supporting timely delivery and inventory accuracy to contribute to overall business success.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, picking, and packing activities.
• Manage inventory control processes to maintain accurate stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
• Delegate tasks to warehouse staff, ensuring workload is balanced and deadlines are met.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate warehouse team members to promote a high-performance culture.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with logistics, transportation, and supply chain teams to optimize workflow and resolve operational issues.
• Monitor performance metrics and prepare reports to track productivity and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in warehouse operations with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, picking, packing, and inventory control procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
• Experience working in the transportation and warehousing industry.
• Certification in forklift operation or other warehouse equipment.
• Proficiency with advanced warehouse management software and inventory tracking tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience implementing process improvements.

Shipping and receiving expertise ensures that goods are processed accurately and efficiently, minimizing delays and errors. Picking and packing skills are applied to maintain order accuracy and prepare shipments that meet quality standards. Inventory control knowledge is critical for tracking stock levels, preventing shortages or overstock situations, and supporting accurate reporting. Delegating tasks effectively allows the Warehouse Lead to optimize workforce productivity while maintaining safety and compliance throughout warehouse operations.

Schedule

8:30 AM to 5 PM (overtime mandatory according to business needs).
