About the role

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for planning, organizing, and monitoring the receiving, storage, and distribution of all items received either from suppliers or the Biamp distribution center. They will help ensure a smooth and consistent operation, so parts and supplies are located and distributed to proper areas in an effective and efficient manner. The Lead is also responsible for assisting with training new and existing employees.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate receiving activities to meet daily customer demand
  • Respond to staff needs relating to technical and process issues and offer advice on proper work techniques and best practices
  • Verify quality of work performed, ensuring that all process and quality procedures are understood and followed by team members
  • Assure all needed equipment is in the area for the employees and the equipment is ready for the following shift each day
  • Ensure all safety policies are understood and followed by team members
  • Lead tiered Daily Management System (DMS) meetings
  • Promote Continuous Improvement and Lean thinking and initiatives within the team
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and work collaboratively to deliver measurable process gains
  • Oversee area cycle count activities by ensuring procedures are followed and ongoing inventory counts are maintained consistently
  • Assist in daily warehouse activities such as inventory counts, picking customer orders, and delivering material to stock areas
  • Process purchase orders and customer returns
  • Monitor, maintain, and communicate all warehouse and employee-related issues in a timely manner and seek all available resources to support when needed
  • Encourage open communication and employee engagement to help improve employee morale
  • Utilize fact-based decision making and problem-solving skills to improve area performance
  • Lead and ensure 6S discipline throughout assigned work areas
  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor

Requirements

  • Internal candidates must be at least a Production Operator II
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience
  • Must be able to work M-F shift from 7am to 3:30pm
  • Proficient with warehouse technology programs such as CRM, Infor LN, and Cogiscan preferred
  • Must be forklift certified or capable of becoming forklift certified at Biamp Systems within 3 months
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment
  • Ability to understand part numbering system
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to adjust work pace and warehouse schedule in response to daily demand
  • Desire and ability to find and solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • May be required to alternate schedules to meet production goals
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and is able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Able to diffuse challenging situations using acceptable and appropriate methods
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint)

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. periodically
  • Stand or sit for long periods
  • Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping, and/or bending
  • Work in an environment that generates OSHA-permissible machine noise levels
  • Use tools that require fine hand skills
  • Visually observe and differentiate small moving parts
  • Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required in designated areas
