Waiter/Waitress (Seafood Restaurant)

Responsibilities

• Warmly welcome and greet guests upon arrival, escort them to their tables, and present menus to ensure a pleasant and professional first impression.
• Demonstrate detailed menu knowledge, including ingredients, preparation methods (especially grilled items and seafood cooking temperatures), and daily specials.
• Confidently describe various types of fish and shellfish, including their origin and flavor profiles (e.g., wild-caught vs. farmed, mild vs. strong flavor).
• Accurately answer guest questions regarding ingredients and potential allergens, especially seafood and shellfish, and clearly communicate these details to the kitchen.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately using the POS system or order slips, and provide recommendations for appetizers, sides, and wine or drink pairings that complement seafood and grilled entrées.
• Promote specials, premium items, and desserts to enhance the dining experience.
• Deliver food and beverages promptly while maintaining presentation and service standards.
• Regularly check on guests, refill beverages, and provide additional condiments or napkins as needed.
• Pre-set tables with correct silverware, glassware, linens, and specialized seafood tools (e.g., crackers, picks).
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, grill cooks, and bartenders to ensure timely and coordinated service.
• Handle guest concerns or complaints professionally, escalating to a manager when necessary.
• Generate and present guest checks accurately and process cash, credit card, or other payments efficiently using the POS system.
• Thank guests sincerely and invite them to return.
• Complete side duties such as rolling silverware, restocking, cleaning menus, and preparing the dining area for the next shift.
• Follow all health, safety, and hygiene standards, especially in handling and serving raw or cooked seafood.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times.
