This position is open to candidates who live within a 50 mile radius of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.

About the role

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week — whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Take orders placed by guests for alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages, and food items from menus.
  • Be fully familiar with all food and beverage items available for guest consumption.
  • Order drinks from bartender and deliver to guest.
  • Maintain sales record, collect cash or payment by credit card from guest.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 213-3, para. 2.
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours annual refresher training.
  • Physical exam required; heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Access to certain federal facilities may require a REAL ID-compliant driver's license/ID (marked with a star) or an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) from WA, MI, MN, NY, or VT.

Qualifications

  • Must meet state/local age requirements for the servicing of alcoholic beverages at the time of appointment.
  • Possess basic math skills necessary to compute patron bills and make change.
  • Be able to communicate effectively.
  • Experience must be clearly reflected on resume to receive credit.
  • Resumes must be two pages (or less) and clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to this position.
