About the role

The Inventory Control Lead oversees and coordinates inventory management activities in stockrooms, warehouses, and yards. Responsibilities include maintaining storage layouts, reviewing records for accuracy, scheduling inventories, preparing reports, tracing discrepancies, issuing instructions, and assigning tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains layout of stockroom, warehouse, and storage areas
  • Studies records and recommends actions for non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock
  • Reviews records for accuracy and compliance with procedures
  • Schedules work for special and periodic inventories
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports
  • Traces history of items to resolve discrepancies and recommend actions
  • Issue written and oral instructions and expedite workflow
  • Assigns duties and examines work for conformance to policies and procedures
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by manager

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in Inventory Control
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training in warehouse environment
  • Experience operating a forklift and cherry picker/high lift
  • Experience using WMS software (Synapse preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Inventory Control practices; KPI reporting, Coordinating Cycle Count programs, Product rotation
  • PC literate with experience in Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to physically count articles or products on shelves, racks, and pallets
  • Utilize computer terminal to properly account for inventory issues, returns, and documentation

Travel Requirement

Occasional travel to assist other facilities and having reliable transportation.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
  • Noisy and dusty working conditions
  • Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required
  • Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time
  • Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision
  • Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones
  • Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances
