About the role

The VP HRBP for Nevada Projects will be a core member of the project leadership team, designing and executing the human capital strategy from initial investment through commissioning and operations. This high-visibility role requires scaling teams, managing complex workforce dynamics, and maintaining a high-performance culture under pressure to directly impact the project’s outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the multi-year headcount strategy, ensuring the right technical expertise for every project phase (FEED, construction, and operations).
  • Act as a trusted advisor to project leadership, providing data-driven insights on organizational health and risk.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to build sourcing strategies for Nevada Projects and Operations.
  • Design and defend a compensation approach to attract and retain critical capabilities, including LTIPs, performance bonuses, and localized retention structures.
  • Oversee international or domestic mobilizations and relocations.
  • Build a scalable org structure accounting for "ramp up" and "ramp down" periods, ensuring smooth transitions and knowledge transfer.
  • Champion succession planning, leadership development, and performance management.
  • Lead Projects and Operations integration, culture transformation, and large-scale change initiatives.
  • Embed a "Safety First" culture within the HR framework, prioritizing engagement and well-being in high-intensity environments.
  • Navigate complex labor environments, contractor management, and localized compliance in Nevada.
  • Collaborate with VP Projects and Operational Readiness Director to build and execute the People Workstream for transitioning from project to construction to operations.
  • Ensure the learning, training, and development approach is scoped, designed, and actioned as part of the integrated operational readiness plan.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of HR experience, with significant exposure to major capital projects ($500M+ scale) in industries like Energy, Mining, Infrastructure, or Manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to advance human capability, foster collaboration, accelerate business outcomes, simplify complexities, and mobilize information.
  • An "Architect Mindset" – building systems aligned with project milestones (FID, Mechanical Completion).
  • Comfort navigating high-stakes, ambiguous project environments with agility.
  • Data fluency to predict attrition risks and measure hiring efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field (Master’s or SPHR/SHRM-SCP preferred).
  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies (PMBOK, Agile) as they relate to human capital.
  • Proficiency in enterprise-grade HCM systems (SAP SuccessFactors preferred) and project management tools.
