About the role
We are seeking an experienced finance leader to guide accounting operations, reporting, budgeting, and payroll oversight for a healthcare-focused organization in Westchester, New York. This role partners closely with senior leadership to strengthen financial controls, support regulatory compliance, and deliver timely analysis that informs operational decisions.
Responsibilities
- Direct month-end and quarter-end financial activities, ensuring complete and timely preparation of statements, cash forecasts, reconciliations, and supporting analyses.
- Oversee the integrity of financial records by reviewing transactions across finance systems and ensuring accurate posting of revenue, expenses, receipts, and disbursements to the general ledger.
- Manage capital spending oversight and maintain fixed asset records to support accurate reporting and asset accountability.
- Lead cash receipts controls and reporting practices across administrative and clinical locations, promoting consistency and reliability in affiliate-wide processes.
- Supervise payroll operations, including review and approval of bi-weekly payroll, while partnering with Human Resources and Compliance on process enhancements or system-related updates.
- Ensure required external reports and regulatory filings are completed accurately and submitted within deadlines to applicable agencies and oversight bodies.
- Coordinate the development of operating, cash, and capital budgets, and provide ongoing forecasting, variance analysis, and financial projections throughout the year.
- Partner with department and program leaders to build grant and funding proposal budgets, support public-sector voucher preparation, and maintain ledger structures that satisfy reporting requirements.
- Support audit readiness and quarterly audit activities, contribute to finance work planning, and provide materials and reporting for Board finance committee meetings.
- Serve as a member of the leadership team by evaluating finance department workflows, recommending improvements, and carrying out additional priorities assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership responsibility in a director-level or comparable role.
- Strong background in annual budgeting, budget administration, forecasting, and month-end close management.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, general ledger oversight, bank reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting.
- Experience managing payroll processes, internal controls, and compliance-driven financial operations.
- Knowledge of healthcare finance practices and reporting requirements within a regulated environment.
- Ability to interpret financial results, identify material variances, and communicate recommendations to senior leaders and department heads.
- Proven success working cross-functionally with executives, operational teams, auditors, and board-level committees.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced credentials such as CPA or MBA are preferred.
