About the role

The Commercial Relationship Manager is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of business clients, developing new relationships, originating commercial loans, increasing deposits, and promoting additional financial services.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with clients and effectively address inquiries or concerns.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Identify opportunities to promote and cross-sell relevant solutions.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and serve as a role model for others.
  • Resolve customer issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Manage and grow a commercial loan portfolio with a focus on retention and expansion.
  • Analyze financial statements, creditworthiness, and risk to support lending decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and verify loan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor loan exposure, maturity reports, past-due accounts, and overdraft activity.
  • Assist clients with loan modifications or restructuring as needed.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Participate in client outreach through calls, meetings, and networking.
  • Develop relationships with referral sources and business partners.
  • Support sales initiatives and collaborate on client proposals.
  • Utilize CRM or loan tracking systems to monitor prospecting activity.
  • Work closely with credit and internal teams to align with lending standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information at all times.
  • Support a culture of integrity, teamwork, and client commitment.
  • Maintain organized workspaces and secure sensitive information.
  • Follow safety and security protocols, including emergency procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in commercial banking or lending, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending practices and loan products.
  • Excellent financial analysis and credit evaluation skills.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with financial documents and lending systems.
  • Strong negotiation and cross-selling capabilities.
