VP, Advanced Planning
About the role
The Vice President, Advanced Planning is a client-facing role at Fidelity, serving as a financial planning and estate planning subject matter authority for high net worth clients and their advisors.
Responsibilities
- Leverage various financial planning tools like eMoney to lead comprehensive financial and estate planning engagements.
- Collaborate with an Advanced Planning Analyst to support advanced planning client engagements across a geographic region.
- Utilize video technology for remote interactions and meet clients and advisors in investor centers.
- Work closely with the Advanced Planning team both virtually and in-person to enhance the collective impact on clients served.
- Travel between 5% and 20% of the time, depending on physical proximity to regional sites and investor centers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with any of the following designations preferred: CPA, JD, M.T., LLM in taxation, CFA, or CFP®.
- 13-15+ years overall work experience with 7+ years of trusts and estate planning, income tax planning, or succession planning work experience.
- Public accounting, law practice, or wealth management industry experience.
- FINRA Series 7 and 66 obtained within 90 days of employment.
- Experience creating and reviewing financial plans using tools such as eMoney.
- Experience working with business owners, start-ups, and Pre-IPO companies (a plus).
- Ability to work independently and lead an assigned territory to drive high net worth client engagements.
- Experience coaching, developing, and applying junior team members.
- Strong communication skills to deliver complex subjects clearly and effectively.
- Emotional intelligence to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and advisors.
- A solution-oriented, client-first work ethic.
- Ability to balance tasks, prioritize work, and maintain efficiency.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of retirement, financial, investment, and insurance planning.
- Expertise in estate planning, family wealth transfer planning, wills/trusts, income taxation, and trust and estate taxation.
Skills
- Ability to create and review financial plans using tools such as eMoney.
- Experience working with business owners, start-ups, and Pre-IPO companies (a plus).
- Strong communication skills to deliver complex subjects clearly and effectively.

Benefits
Remote work is possible but requires residing within commuting distance to an Investor Center or Regional Center in Missouri or Kansas.

We are part of the Advanced Planning Leadership Development team, collaborating with Fidelity’s advisors and high-net-worth clients to provide a comprehensive financial planning experience tailored to each client's unique financial goals and family dynamics.
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
