Volunteer: Technology Infrastructure Assessment
About the Opportunity
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. The Autism Cares Foundation (ACF) is experiencing challenges with our current IT structure and systems. We are seeking assistance in conducting a comprehensive assessment of our current technology infrastructure, systems, and processes to maximize organizational efficiency, strengthen data management, and enhance service delivery.
Project Scope
We are seeking a skilled volunteer to conduct a comprehensive assessment of ACF's technology infrastructure, systems, and Microsoft 365 environment. The assessment should identify inefficiencies, misconfigurations, security concerns, and underutilized functionality that may be limiting organizational effectiveness. The project will culminate in a prioritized technology improvement plan that includes both practical "quick wins" that can be implemented by volunteers and strategic recommendations for larger modernization initiatives requiring outside IT expertise.
Impact
For the individuals and families who rely on Autism Cares Foundation, dependable technology is more than an operational necessity—it is the foundation that allows us to deliver life-changing services with consistency, compassion, and care. Pro bono support will help us create a secure, reliable technology environment that enables our staff to spend less time managing technology challenges and more time building relationships, creating opportunities, and supporting autistic adults as they pursue greater independence and a higher quality of life. The recommendations and expertise provided by volunteers will strengthen ACF far beyond this project, giving us the tools and confidence to operate more efficiently, safeguard the information entrusted to us, and grow our impact for years to come. Their generosity will not simply improve our technology—it will help ensure that more individuals with disabilities and their families receive the support, opportunities, and hope they deserve.
Partner Commitment
ACF is committed to being a responsive and well-prepared partner throughout this project. Prior to the volunteer engagement, staff will gather system documentation, software inventories, Microsoft 365 licensing information, IT policies, and other relevant materials to streamline the assessment process. Key staff members from leadership, operations, and program teams will be available to participate in interviews, answer questions, and provide timely access to systems and documentation as appropriate. Throughout the engagement, ACF will designate a primary project liaison to coordinate communications, schedule meetings, and ensure the volunteer receives prompt responses and the information they need. Staff will actively collaborate with the volunteer team to validate findings, discuss operational needs, and evaluate recommendations. Once the project is complete, ACF is committed to implementing the recommendations as resources allow, using the assessment as a roadmap to strengthen our technology infrastructure, improve efficiency, enhance cybersecurity, and better support our mission of serving autistic adults and their families.
