About the role

The Manager of Volunteer Services and Community Engagement is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the effective utilization of approximately 200 student and 150 adult volunteers. This role involves cooperative efforts with volunteers and facility staff to provide meaningful services to patients and staff, extending the facility’s mission and goals into the community. The manager serves as a liaison between the facility, St. David’s Healthcare Volunteer organization, and volunteer employees, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements for adult and student volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the need for volunteers throughout St. David’s Medical Center.
  • Recruit volunteers to meet facility and community needs.
  • Place volunteers according to departmental job descriptions.
  • Provide volunteer training.
  • Evaluate and advance the volunteer program on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide general oversight to the Volunteer Executive Board and Student Leadership Board.
  • Oversee operations of the St. David’s Medical Center Gift Shop.
  • Maintain efficient operation of the Volunteer Services Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, psychology, business, education, public relations, or a related field (required).
  • CAVS (Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services) certification (preferred).
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience with the ability to supervise large, diverse groups of people (required).
  • Two years of experience managing volunteers in a non-profit or healthcare agency (preferred).
  • Two years of experience in Public Relations, Communications, or Human Services in a health-related field (preferred).
