Volunteer Services Manager

About the role

The Manager of Volunteer Services, under the guidance of the Director Guest Retail and Volunteer Services, manages all WakeMed Health & Hospitals Volunteer Services and related programs. Oversees the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of volunteer workers. Works closely with all department leaders to create and develop volunteer placement opportunities that support the strategic and aspirational goals of the organization. Develops and manages department program goals and objectives in alignment with the strategic priorities of the organization.

Key responsibilities include overseeing community programs, community in-kind donations, community presentations, and recruitment efforts. Coordinates all volunteer hospital fundraising events and provides board relation support to two volunteer boards. Leads the Volunteer Services paid team to ensure excellence in process and outcomes for employees, volunteers, patients, and families. The Manager assists the Director of Guest Retail & Volunteer Services as assigned with additional responsibilities and improvement efforts as they arise.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage department program goals and objectives in line with strategic priorities.
• Oversee community programs, in-kind donations, presentations, and recruitment efforts.
• Coordinate volunteer hospital fundraising events and provide board relation support to two volunteer boards.
• Lead the Volunteer Services team to ensure excellence in processes and outcomes for employees, volunteers, patients, and families.
• Assist the Director of Guest Retail & Volunteer Services with additional responsibilities and improvement efforts as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required).
• Master’s Degree (Preferred).
• 5 years of experience in Volunteer Services (Required).
• 5 years of leadership experience (Preferred).
• 3 years of healthcare experience (Preferred).
• Certified Healthcare Volunteer Management certification (Preferred).
