Core Responsibilities

  • Review incoming volunteer applications
  • Confirm required forms have been completed
  • Send professional follow-up messages
  • Track applicants through the recruiting process
  • Maintain accurate applicant records
  • Identify incomplete applications
  • Categorize applicants according to Skills, Professional experience, Availability, Interests, Geographic considerations, Desired level of involvement, Potential team placement
  • Coordinate interview scheduling
  • Prepare interview information
  • Maintain interview notes
  • Help identify questions appropriate to an applicant's background
  • Document follow-up items
  • Escalate concerns to the appropriate leadership
  • Send onboarding information
  • Confirm required agreements
  • Track onboarding completion
  • Help connect volunteers with their assigned team
  • Monitor completion of initial assignments
  • Identify volunteers who need additional support

Pipeline Development

  • Identify Emerging team leaders
  • Project Managers
  • Specialized subject-matter experts
  • Future department coordinators
  • Volunteers who may be appropriate for expanded responsibility

Commitment

Approximately 3–5 hours per week

  • Do you understand that this is an unpaid volunteer opportunity?
  • Can you realistically commit at least 3 hours per week?
  • Are you comfortable working as part of a specialized volunteer team rather than independently controlling the entire recruiting process?
  • Have you worked in recruiting, volunteer coordination, HR, administration, customer service, project coordination, or another role requiring organized follow-up?
  • What experience or skill would you bring to a Volunteer Recruiting & Talent Team?
