The Parks and Recreation Division provides a wide range of youth and adult programs to promote physical activity and well-being, including instructional classes, games, fitness activities, and crafts. Additionally, the division maintains fifteen boat ramps and six scenic piers, perfect for shoreline anglers.
Citrus County Parks & Recreation Division greatly benefits from the services provided by skilled and motivated volunteers and encourages involvement by Citrus County citizens. Volunteers are uncompensated individuals who perform services directly related to the business of Citrus County, supporting humanitarian, charitable, or public service activities while gaining experience in specific endeavors.
Responsibilities
- Perform services directly related to the business of Citrus County Parks and Recreation Division.
- Support youth and adult programs, including instructional classes, games, fitness activities, and crafts.
- Assist in the maintenance and operation of boat ramps and scenic piers.
- Provide service according to the procedures of the specific area chosen.
- Adhere to all County policies and guidelines for volunteer service.
Requirements
- Willingness to provide uncompensated service in accordance with County procedures.
- Ability and suitability to perform assigned tasks on behalf of the County.
- Minimum age of 14 years; volunteers under 18 must avoid hazardous work as defined by the Department of Labor (e.g., driving, working with chemicals, knives, or other hazards).
- Volunteers aged 14–17 must be closely supervised or serve with a parent.
- No current County employee may volunteer in a capacity similar to their regular paid position.
- Volunteers agree that the County may terminate their relationship at any time, for any reason, at the County’s discretion.
