Mission

HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member-based organization that inspires a deeper understanding of people, places, and cultures for a more tolerant world. We reinvest our surpluses back into our hostels and programs to maximize their impact.

Responsibilities

  • Curate and lead weekly northside Chicago neighborhood tours focusing on history, culture, murals/public art, and/or food.
  • Meet guests at HI USA hostel in the Loop and transport them via CTA to the chosen neighborhood.
  • Engage with guests to share knowledge about the neighborhood's history and culture.
  • Ensure tours are engaging and informative, catering to a diverse audience.

Requirements

  • MUST BE A RESIDENT OF CHICAGO OR THE CHICAGO AREA TO APPLY.
  • Knowledgeable about the neighborhoods of Andersonville, Wrigleyville, Wicker Park, Logan Square, Rogers Park, and other relevant areas.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively in English.
  • Willingness to travel to various neighborhoods within Chicago.
  • Passion for sharing knowledge and fostering cultural understanding.
