Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads the full volunteer management cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, engagement, and retention, to ensure programs have qualified volunteer support to meet operational and client service needs.
- Develops and maintains volunteer role descriptions, expectations, assignments, and service schedules so volunteers understand their responsibilities and contribute effectively to program goals.
- Promotes effective collaboration between staff and volunteers by supporting clear communication, shared accountability, and positive volunteer experiences that strengthen service delivery.
- Guides staff in engaging volunteers appropriately and consistently, ensuring volunteer involvement aligns with program needs, organizational values, and service quality standards.
- Buils and sustains relationships with community organizations, businesses, schools, donors, and other partners to expand volunteer participation, strengthen community engagement, and advance the organization’s mission.
- Cohorts individual and group service activities, including corporate, business, and school service days, to provide meaningful volunteer experiences that address identified program needs.
- Coordinates donor engagement, life skills speakers, fundraising support, and related community activities to strengthen resources available to clients and programs.
- Manges material donations by coordinating with donors, tracking donated goods, and ensuring donations are distributed appropriately to support program operations and client needs.
- Maintains complete, accurate, and confidential volunteer and donor records, including applications, background checks, references, evaluations, contact information, service hours, and compliance documentation.
- Prepares and reviews volunteer service reports, engagement metrics, and outcome information to monitor effectiveness, identify needs, and support program planning.
- Conducts tours and orientations for community members, donors, and prospective volunteers to increase understanding of program services and encourage ongoing engagement.
- Develops communications, including articles, newsletters, correspondence, and social media content, to promote volunteer opportunities, recognize contributions, and increase awareness of program impact.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, nonprofit management, public administration, communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent education, training, or directly related experience may be considered.
- Two (2) years of experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, human services, nonprofit programming, donor relations, or a related role preferred.
- Experience coordinating volunteers, community partners, events, or service activities in a mission-driven environment is strongly preferred.
Required Skills & Abilities
