About the role

The Volunteer Manager at CityLink Center is responsible for building the relationships, volunteer experiences, and systems that help neighbors pursue holistic life change. This role involves designing, managing, and continuously improving volunteer engagement systems across CityLink Center and its partner organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Create, evaluate, and improve approaches and materials to recruit volunteers.
  • Work closely with the Spiritual Growth Director and Chief Program Officer to support church, university, and individual recruitment strategies.
  • Host and attend recruiting events within the community to attract qualified volunteers.
  • Support publicity opportunities to recruit, celebrate, and strengthen volunteerism.
  • Establish and execute training curriculum for volunteer engagement at the Center.
  • Give support, ongoing training, leadership development, and guidance for volunteers.
  • Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events.
  • Support volunteers through encouragement and practical problem solving.
  • Directly manage fulfillment for hundreds of volunteer shifts per month, identifying gaps, coordinating coverage, and ensuring program needs are met.
  • Work with volunteers, staff, and partners to coordinate coverage and maintain reliable volunteer support across the Center.
  • Evaluate to continuously improve volunteer experiences and service outcomes.
  • Carefully coordinate the creation and distribution of volunteer communications and publications.
  • Assess client, volunteer, staff, and partner feedback to improve volunteer engagement.
  • Identify and lead a Volunteer Advisory Council to evaluate engagement and provide feedback.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and provide monthly activity reports on volunteerism.
  • Identify and lead improvements to targeted volunteer recruiting and retention strategies.
  • Design, manage, and continuously improve systems and processes that mobilize and support volunteers across CityLink Center and partner organizations.
  • Identify, develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities that support program operations and client impact.
  • Recommend effective uses of volunteers to increase capacity for programs.
  • Establish and manage volunteer policies, role descriptions, procedures, standards, orientation, and training processes.
  • Manage the systems, processes, policies, and role clarity that allow volunteers to serve consistently and effectively.
  • Oversee volunteer orientation, training, scheduling, communication, support, and recognition infrastructure.
  • Enlist, train, and supervise the Operations Support Coordinator and volunteers supporting volunteer functions within the Center.
  • Provide direction, coordination, and consultation for volunteer functions across departments and partner organizations.
  • Develop Lead Volunteers who can conduct or arrange orientation and training, schedule activity, and provide ongoing support.
  • Serve as a key interface between CityLink Center and service delivery organizations, including Resident and Visiting Partners.
  • Collaborate with partners to determine how volunteers can best strengthen capacity and impact client lives.

Requirements

  • Experience mobilizing and managing large numbers of volunteers.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment with multiple partners.
  • Knowledge of management principles, evaluation methods, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

  • Comfort working productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and web-based applications.
  • Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job, including some Saturdays and evenings.

$50,000-$55,000 Based on experience.

Schedule

Full-time, on-site role requiring flexibility with hours generally Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays and evenings for special events, meetings, and training.
