Volunteer: Grant Research and Writing Support
About the Role
Research and compile a prioritized list of mental health grant opportunities, including funder names, eligibility notes, deadlines, and contact information, and provide short summaries. Support drafting letters of inquiry and proposal outlines. Specific priorities and materials will be provided during interviews.
This project includes writing and submitting grants to support making quality mental health services accessible and equitable. Securing grant funding will help The Powerful Project expand access to vetted clinicians at reduced rates, removing financial barriers for young adults needing support. Volunteer research and writing will directly increase resources that enable therapeutic supports and better outcomes for families who fall between the cracks.
Our team will collaborate closely with the volunteer to set priorities, review drafts, and coordinate next steps so findings and materials can be used to pursue funding promptly.
About The Powerful Project
The Powerful Project partners with skilled, vetted clinicians who agree to work with our families at a reduced rate to help stretch donation dollars and family resources. This allows us to match children and families with some of the most dedicated and experienced professionals in the field.
Our donor network is comprised of individuals, groups, and businesses who believe in investing in humanity through the healing of our children. They are dedicated to removing financial obstacles to obtaining services. By having a number of disciplines and clinicians onboard, we're able to fine-tune and pinpoint the best interventions and supports needed and ensure funds are well-targeted and utilized to their full potential.
Our goal is to make ideal outcomes possible for children and families who need them most. In addition to working directly with families’ needs, we also provide an effective and direct outlet for those who want to support the community but have limited time, knowledge, or ability to do so effectively on their own.
We have seen first-hand that families who are doing “just well enough” and “getting by” could be thriving if given the opportunity for therapeutic support and education. We believe there’s a group of people who are falling between the cracks: they do not qualify for government financial support and insurance does not provide enough help. They may find that insurance is unreliable and they do not have the expendable income to invest in themselves or their children. Our practices and those of many other practices try to help by offering sliding scale, pro bono sessions. However, there’s a limit to how much can be offered this way. The Powerful Project fills this gap by providing opportunities for healing and growth for children and families.
On a personal level, and with the power of connection, we have an opportunity to not only change the lives of individuals or families but to make a lasting positive change in the world.
