Volunteer: Give Voice to a Brand Redefining How the World Sees Survivors

About the role

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Free Brands creates entrepreneurship pathways for survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence, so they can build businesses and lasting economic freedom.

Responsibilities

• Build the written half of Free Brands' visual brand identity, including a brand voice and messaging guide.
• Define how Free Brands sounds and what we say, ensuring a consistent message across all communications.
• Develop a clear voice that aligns with Free Brands' mission and resonates with different audiences, such as survivor entrepreneurs, purpose-driven shoppers, donors, and funders.
• Collaborate with the founder to maintain consistency in communication as the organization grows.

Requirements

• A strong understanding of branding and copywriting principles.
• Experience working with nonprofits and/or survivor communities.
• The ability to craft compelling and empathetic messaging that reflects Free Brands' mission.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Qualifications

• Experience in writing for non-profits or similar organizations.
• Knowledge of survivor entrepreneurship and its impact.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for Free Brands' mission and commitment to social change.

Skills

• Copywriting and brand strategy skills.
• Experience with nonprofit communications.
• Understanding of survivor entrepreneurship.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
