Volunteer: Product Photographers for Survivor-Owned Businesses (San Diego)

About the role

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Free Brands is a survivor-led nonprofit that creates entrepreneurship pathways for survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence, so they can build businesses and lasting economic freedom. This fall we are investing in twelve survivor-owned businesses through our accelerator, and one of the most valuable things we can give these founders is professional product photography, images they will keep and use long after our program.

Responsibilities

• Shoot clean, professional product photography across twelve survivor-owned businesses.
• Work within a timeframe of late September to mid-October.
• Ensure the photos are suitable for various products, including jewelry, candles, oil rollers, and body care.
• Build a shot list and make choices that suit each business’s product type and branding.
• Provide evergreen photography that founders can use on their website and beyond to display their products and increase sales.
• Collaborate with the founder to ensure the photos meet their vision and needs.

Requirements

• San Diego-based photographers.
• Experience in product photography.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and creativity.
• Good communication skills to work closely with the founder.

Qualifications

• Passion for supporting survivor-led businesses.
• Understanding of the importance of strong product imagery in driving sales.
• Experience working with diverse product types.
• Knowledge of post-production editing for photography.
