About The Role
We're looking for a skilled volunteer to help build and maintain the user-facing side of our website or app. You'll turn designs into responsive, accessible, functioning interfaces — helping us create a smooth, professional experience for everyone who visits our site or uses our platform. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their portfolio, gain nonprofit tech experience, or give back using existing frontend development skills.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain responsive web pages/interfaces from design mockups
- Write clean, reusable, well-documented code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Vue)
- Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility
- Optimize for performance, accessibility (WCAG), and SEO best practices
- Integrate frontend with backend APIs and third-party services
- Collaborate closely with designers to ensure pixel-accurate, on-brand implementation
- Fix bugs and UI issues identified during QA
- Participate in code reviews and follow version control best practices (Git)
Who You Are
- Experience with frontend languages/frameworks (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue, etc.)
- Understanding of responsive design and web accessibility principles
- Familiarity with Git/version control and collaborative development workflows
- Good eye for translating designs into functional, polished interfaces
- Comfortable working independently and communicating progress asynchronously
- Passionate about [cause area] and nonprofit work
- Experience with design tools like Figma is a plus
