About the role

As the Volunteer Engagement Lead, you are responsible for recruiting volunteers for events leading up to the Run and on Run weekend. Working with fellow committee members, you determine how many event volunteers are needed and build a community outreach plan to engage volunteers. You will manage the location's Run volunteer email account, drive volunteer registration on the website, and provide updates to the committee at each meeting. On Run Day, you oversee volunteer schedules through sign-in, t-shirt distribution, redirecting volunteers as needed, verifying hours, and thanking volunteers for their time and energy. Support and training on our online volunteer management software will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Recruit volunteers for events leading up to and during Run weekend
• Determine volunteer needs and develop a community outreach plan
• Manage the Run volunteer email account and drive online registration
• Provide updates to the committee at meetings
• Oversee volunteer schedules on Run Day, including sign-in, t-shirt distribution, and task assignment
• Verify volunteer hours and express appreciation for their contributions

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable in a leadership role and passionate about building relationships
• Regular access to a computer and proficiency with email and web platforms
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Passion for the breast cancer cause

Schedule

• Monthly committee meetings from May to July and biweekly in August and September
• Weekly tasks averaging 3-5 hours per week, depending on the time of year
• Evening, weekend, and remote volunteering opportunities
• Attendance and leadership role at Run events leading up to and including Run Day
