Volunteer: Design and Facilitate a Virtual Leadership Retreat for a Global Nonprofit

About the opportunity

Creshendo is seeking an experienced facilitator to help us design and lead a virtual leadership retreat for our volunteer Team Leads. Our goal is to strengthen leadership skills, build stronger relationships across teams, and create space for peer learning as our organization continues to grow. We envision a one or two-day virtual retreat that combines practical leadership development with interactive discussion and reflection.

Volunteer responsibilities

• Design the retreat agenda and session activities
• Develop any supporting facilitation materials or participant worksheets
• Facilitate the live retreat sessions
• Lead interactive discussions and practical leadership exercises
• Share recommendations for future leadership development opportunities

Topics may include

• Leading remote volunteer teams
• Communication and feedback
• Building trust and accountability
• Preventing volunteer burnout
• Cross-team collaboration
• Practical leadership tools for early-stage nonprofits

About the project

This is a short-term project with a clear endpoint. The goal is to deliver one high-quality virtual leadership retreat that our team can build on in the future. Creshendo is a global, volunteer-led nonprofit. Strong leadership is essential to creating a healthy organizational culture and delivering high-quality programs. This retreat will help our Team Leads strengthen their leadership skills, learn from one another, and build stronger relationships across departments. Investing in our volunteer leaders will improve collaboration, reduce burnout, and strengthen our ability to serve migrant and refugee communities.

Support provided

The facilitator will work closely with our Executive Director to understand our goals, team structure, and organizational culture. We will:

• Meet in advance to align on retreat objectives
• Provide background information about participants and team dynamics
• Support logistics before and during the retreat
• Co-facilitate logistical elements such as introductions, breakout room assignments, and timekeeping, allowing the facilitator to focus on leading the sessions

We are flexible on the exact agenda and welcome the facilitator's expertise in designing an engaging and practical experience.
