This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Free Brands is a survivor-led nonprofit that creates entrepreneurship pathways for survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence, so they can build businesses and lasting economic freedom. Each December we run our 12 Days of Christmas campaign featuring twelve survivor-owned businesses, and this year we want to give it a beautifully designed holiday catalog. So far our campaign has lived mostly on social media, and we have never had a single, tangible piece that brings all twelve businesses together and puts them in someone’s hands. That is the gap we want to close. We are picturing something nostalgic, with the warmth and wonder of the old Toys R Us gift catalogs, pages you actually want to flip through, reimagined for intentional, meaningful shopping. We want a reader to feel that buying from these businesses helps create generational freedom for survivors, that their holiday shopping can be kind and intentional rather than one more capitalistic rush. We are looking for a graphic designer to create a finished holiday catalog, in both a digital and a print-ready version, of around fifteen pages. We picture a cover, an opening that sets the tone, a page or spread for each of the twelve survivor-owned businesses with their products and a QR code leading straight to their shop, a spread that tells our story and invites readers to donate, and a warm close. The printed version will be brought to local San Diego holiday markets for people to take home, so it should feel like a keepsake worth holding onto. You will design within our existing brand, using our colors, fonts, and logo, and I will provide the businesses, their products, photography, and QR codes as the campaign comes together. As the founder, I will be your single point of contact throughout. Success looks like a catalog that makes these businesses shine, moves readers to shop and give, and becomes the heart of our biggest season and a piece we can build on for years.
