Volunteer: Demo Review and Live Feedback for Emerging Colorists

About the role

This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. We are looking for an experienced professional to mentor our emerging filmmakers.

Responsibilities

• Review a batch of 6 to 10 color grading demo submissions
• Write specific notes on balance, mood, contrast, and grading across skin tones
• Join one live feedback session to react to grades in real time with the colorists
• Offer light guidance on a small community grading project or two
• Flag standout colorists who are ready for real Ineffable Films projects

Requirements

The ideal volunteer is a working or experienced professional in this craft who remembers what it felt like to be starting out and wants to give the kind of honest, encouraging feedback they wish they had received. This project should take 12 to 20 hours to complete. We are hopeful that our volunteer partner will share 2 to 5 hours of their time per week.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with experience in color grading, particularly with regard to balancing tone, mood, contrast, and grading across skin tones. Familiarity with the Open Hours community on GoHighLevel and the ability to provide constructive feedback are essential.

Skills

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide both constructive criticism and encouragement are crucial. Experience with color grading software and a deep understanding of cinematography principles are beneficial.
