Job Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supervising members who become Peer Leaders at the center. Responsible to develop and maintain peer-to-peer support services and support activities provided for and by people in recovery from substance use.
The recovery support center operates with peer governance and uses the peer participatory process to create a safe, inclusive environment to promote ongoing growth and long-term recovery.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily supervision of Peer Leaders/Volunteers.
- Manages peer support and peer activities, including peer-facilitated recovery groups and community activities.
- Develops schedules and work plans for Peer Leaders.
- Affords assistance in gathering required survey data and data entering into recovery measures application.
- Acts as the liaison to the Ethics Committee.
- Coordinates peers participating in community activities and events with the goal of addressing and decreasing the stigma of addiction.
Minimum Qualifications
- Embrace and work in a culturally and linguistically diverse recovery community.
- Support all paths to recovery and have a minimum of 2 years of solid recovery or have lived experience as an individual affected by substance abuse in the family.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of substance addiction and recovery.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Have strong interpersonal boundaries.
- Have better than average experience using a computer and required software.
- Experience and knowledge of the Falmouth and Cape Cod community, its recovery communities, organizations, and service providers.
- Be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
