Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, clusters, and resource pools.
- Monitor and optimize virtual machine performance, capacity, and resource allocation.
- Perform VM provisioning, configuration, cloning, snapshots, and lifecycle management.
- Manage and troubleshoot vCenter, ESXi, and related VMware components.
- Support storage integration with VMware, including SAN/NAS connectivity and datastore management.
- Maintain and optimize HA, DRS, vMotion, and other VMware availability features.
- Apply patches, updates, and firmware upgrades to VMware hosts and supporting hardware.
- Troubleshoot virtualization-related issues across compute, storage, and networking layers.
- Collaborate with Windows/Linux system administrators to support virtualized workloads.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and infrastructure diagrams.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide Tier 2/3 support for escalated issues.
- Aid in planning and executing infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and capacity expansions.
Qualifications
- BA/BS or equivalent years of combined experience and training.
- 5+ years of IT experience with 1-2 years of hands-on experience working with the technologies listed above.
- DoD 8570 Certification: IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent).
- 3-5 years of experience administering VMware vSphere environments.
- Strong understanding of ESXi, vCenter, clusters, HA, DRS, and vMotion.
- Experience with virtual networking, including vSwitches, distributed switches, VLANs, and NIC teaming.
- Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage, LUN provisioning, and datastore management.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance issues across compute, storage, and network layers.
- Experience with Windows or Linux server administration in virtualized environments.
- Strong understanding of virtualization best practices and capacity planning.
- Minimum Secret security clearance, TS/SCI preferred.
