Key Responsibilities
- Design, engineer, and implement enterprise VMware infrastructure based on VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
- Architect highly available virtualization environments utilizing VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, Distributed Switches, and Lifecycle Manager.
- Engineer enterprise storage solutions supporting VMware workloads across Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NFS environments.
- Configure and optimize SAN fabrics, zoning, LUN provisioning, multipathing, and storage connectivity.
- Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, including hardware refreshes, VMware upgrades, storage migrations, and data center consolidation projects.
- Perform performance analysis and tuning across compute, storage, and virtualization layers to eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks.
- Engineer VMware vSAN and hyperconverged infrastructure solutions where applicable.
- Develop automation using PowerCLI, PowerShell, REST APIs, or Ansible to streamline infrastructure provisioning and operational tasks.
- Design and implement backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions for virtualized workloads.
- Develop infrastructure standards, engineering documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures.
- Conduct root cause analysis for complex infrastructure issues spanning virtualization, storage, networking, and server hardware.
- Evaluate emerging VMware and storage technologies and recommend architectural improvements.
- Collaborate with network, cloud, security, and systems engineering teams to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.
- Participate in infrastructure architecture reviews and technical design sessions.
- Provide Tier III/IV engineering support for complex production incidents.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience.
- 5+ years designing and engineering VMware vSphere environments.
- Expert-level experience with: VMware ESXi, VMware vCenter, VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, Distributed Switches, Lifecycle Manager.
- Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise storage platforms such as Dell EMC PowerStore, Unity, or PowerMax, NetApp ONTAPP, Pure Storage FlashArray, HPE Alletra or Nimble, IBM FlashSystem.
- Strong understanding of: Fibre Channel SAN architecture, Brocade or Cisco SAN switching, iSCSI, NFS, Multipathing (MPIO), Storage replication, Thin provisioning, Snapshot technologies.
- Experience with VMware vSAN and hyperconverged infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware including Dell PowerEdge, Cisco UCS, or HPE ProLiant platforms.
- Experience integrating VMware with enterprise backup platforms such as Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, or Dell Data Protection Suite.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills across compute, storage, networking, and virtualization domains.
- Experience with infrastructure automation using PowerCLI, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP).
- VMware Cloud Foundation experience, VMware NSX experience.
- Dell EMC Proven Professional, NetApp Certified Professional, Pure Storage certifications.
- Experience with Azure VMware Solution (AVS), VMware Cloud on AWS, or hybrid cloud environments.
- Cisco UCS or Dell VxRail knowledge.
- Familiarity with storage performance analysis and monitoring tools.
- ITIL change management and enterprise operational practices knowledge.
