Job Summary

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) seeks a Vitreoretinal Surgeon or Medical Retina Specialist to provide patient care, teaching, and research.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provide vitreoretinal surgical and/or medical retina patient care at UW Health and potential other sites.
  • Participate in resident/medical student/fellowship education.
  • Participate in and conduct clinical trials in vitreoretinal eye diseases.
  • Perform administrative duties as required.

Department

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) is a nationally renowned department that integrates clinical care and translational research. Resources include the McPherson Eye Research Institute, Wisconsin Reading Center, and Clinical Eye Research Unit.

Compensation

The starting salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Benefits include generous vacation, holidays, and sick leave; competitive insurances and savings accounts; and retirement benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible by American Board of Ophthalmology by start date.
  • Residency training in a U.S. Ophthalmology Accredited Program by start date.
  • Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery or Medical Retina by start date.
  • WI Medical License, or eligibility for license, by start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates for Associate Professor (CHS) and Professor (CHS) ranks must meet criteria for appointment per SMPH guidelines for appointment and promotion on the CHS track.

Education

An M.D. or equivalent degree is required.
