Visiting Senior Scientific Specialist, Geospatial Science - Illinois State Archaeological Survey

About the role

The Visiting Senior Scientific Specialist, Geospatial Science will provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technical and specialized production process support for the GIS and Data Stewardship Section.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and preparing databases, hosted geospatial data, and online maps
• Documenting workflows for State programs
• Contributing significantly to web application initiatives

Requirements

• PhD in Geospatial Science or related field
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience
• Experience with GIS software and database management systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Qualifications

• Expertise in GIS and data stewardship
• Knowledge of web application development
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS)
• Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL)
