About the role
The Department of Architecture and Urban Sustainability at The University of the District of Columbia, College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) seeks candidates for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Architecture and Community Planning programs.
Responsibilities
- Teach design studios in the undergraduate (B.S. in Architecture) program, as well as lecture and seminar courses in their area of expertise at either the undergraduate or National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited graduate (M. Arch.) program in Architecture and Community Planning.
- Conduct research and scholarly activities in the area of Architecture and Community Planning.
- Establish a research focus in any of the following areas but not limited to: urban sustainability, sustainable architecture, building technology, digital fabrication, urban design, urban planning, and built environment.
- Engage students in community-centered activities to prepare them for entry level positions in architecture and graduate level scholarship.
- Work with students to plan and mentor research and service-learning experiences that stress the experiential, active learning and development of critical skills which are the focus of Architecture and Community Planning.
- Be available on campus to advise students and participate in department and university service.
- Develop and maintain an awareness of urban planning, urban sustainability, and urban architectural issues in communities in the District of Columbia.
Requirements
- Terminal degree in Architecture (M.Arch. or BS Arch) (PhD preferred).
- Three years of teaching in the Architecture and Community Planning field.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven record of teaching, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to teach hand drawing, model making, and apply computer technology and advanced software for drawing (REVIT), plus visualization (Escape or similar - VR/AR/human experience).
- Familiarity with and adherence to NAAB accreditation standards.
- A proven commitment to continuous improvement and to proactive, outcomes-oriented work in meeting the responsibilities and duties described.

$69,000 - $82,285 C losing Date: Open Until Filled
