About the role
The Department of Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona seeks a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Architecture to join the faculty in Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach and coordinate architecture core studios, upper-level elective design studios, lecture courses, and elective seminars within the B.Arch and M.Arch programs.
Responsibilities
- Teach and coordinate architecture core studios (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year)
- Teach upper-level elective design studios
- Lecture courses
- Elective seminars
- Contribute to department, college, and university operations through service
- Maintain creative and scholarly activities that inform teaching
- Lead courses and curriculum meeting the NAAB SC.6 Building Integration requirement
Requirements
- Possess an advanced degree in architecture (Master or PhD).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Experience teaching architecture design studios at the post-secondary education level.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- Experience or capacity to teach building envelope systems and assemblies, environmental control systems, building performance, and sustainable design practices.
- Experience coordinating a team-taught design studio and/or student advising.
- Advance academic knowledge and/or practice of architecture through research, scholarship, and/or creative activities.
- Maintain a record of service on university committees, to the discipline of architecture, to professional architectural organizations, and/or to community organizations related to architecture.
- Hold a license to practice architecture in the United States, or be actively pursuing licensure.
- At least 2-years of experience teaching architecture design studios at the post-secondary education level.
