About the role
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is seeking a Visiting Instructional Assistant Professor of Dance for the Fall 2026 semester. Located in Laredo, Texas, TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students and a vibrant, bicultural community.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate dance courses, including technique, choreography, and theory
- Develop course materials and assess student learning
- Mentor and advise students
- Choreograph and/or direct departmental performances
- Contribute to curriculum development and program initiatives
- Engage in departmental, college, and university service
- Recruit students and apply for external funding
Requirements
- Hold a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated success in teaching dance at the collegiate or professional level
- Experience as a performer, choreographer, or dance artist
- Effective teaching and strong communication skills
- Engagement with students of various backgrounds
- Ability to acquire external funding
- Specialization in Flamenco and Ballet Folklorico is a plus
