Dance, Adjunct Faculty

About the role

Class Description Part Time instructor positions available in Dance, teaching one or more of the following Dance technique courses: Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern Dance, Ballet, and other dance forms as needed. The ability to teach Dance Appreciation, and History of Hip Hop Dance is also a consideration. Please indicate technique forms qualified to teach on application.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director and/or course coordinator
• Absides by College wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct
• Ensures instruction meets or exceeds standards established by National Association of Schools of Dance
• Employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population
• Adheres to the scheduled time of class/lab
• Develops a course syllabus that is in keeping with program and College policies
• Safeguards that program specific evaluation methods are administered and completed in a consistent and equitable manner
• Maintains that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assessing the established course objectives
• Monitors student performance on a regular basis and provides feedback within a reasonable timeframe to students

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Dance; or Master’s degree in related field with 18 graduate credits in Dance; or qualifying equivalency/portfolio and successful experience as a practitioner in the field
• Two (2) years teaching experience
• Experience working with non-traditional and diverse student populations preferred
• Experience using classroom technology and learning management systems preferred
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft applications knowledge
• Prior college teaching experience preferred

Pay

Adjunct Level 1 - $1,085 per credit hour.

Schedule

Adjunct faculty may teach up to 22 credit hours each year and usually teach no more than 11 credits each semester.
