Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor, Chemistry

Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in chemistry, one-year full-time faculty-track (non-tenure) position starting August 2026 on the Biddeford, ME campus. 9-month appointment.

Responsibilities

• Teach lectures and laboratory classes in the two-semester general-chemistry sequence.
• Teach biochemistry and/or organic chemistry, plus additional courses in the candidate’s area of expertise based on school needs.
• Typical teaching load is 12 credits per semester.
• Engage in curriculum development, academic advising, student recruiting, course and program assessment, and service to the school, college, and university.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field required at time of appointment; Ph.D. preferred.
• Preference given to candidates with professional experience that provides commensurate qualifications.
• Training in organic chemistry, biochemistry, green chemistry, analytical chemistry, toxicology, and/or biotechnology is encouraged.
• Ability to contribute to course development in applied-chemistry areas that complement current university growth areas.
• Commitment to inclusive pedagogies that promote active engagement and foster student learning.
