Job Summary

Colorado College's Environmental Studies & Science Program (EV) invites applications for a one-year visiting position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level to begin in August of 2026, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and curricular needs. Area of specialization is open across environmental science, though we especially encourage applications from candidates with expertise in hydrology and adjacent fields. The successful candidate will teach a combination of the following courses, based on specific EV enrollment needs:

  • Introduction to Global Climate Change (a gateway course required for all Environmental Studies and Environmental Science majors)
  • Hydrology (either multiple sections of the same course or electives that meet our Hydrosphere learning objectives)
  • Energy (environmental thermodynamics and energetics)
  • Electives in the candidate's area of expertise
  • Supervised student research and thesis work

The teaching load for this position is six courses per academic year. Visiting assistant professors at Colorado College receive competitive salaries, benefits, and professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in any environmental science discipline, with a research emphasis on the environment, by start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in hydrology or adjacent environmental science field, with a research emphasis on the environment, by start of employment, and experience teaching undergraduate courses similar to those required by the position.
