Visiting Assistant Professor, Microbiology and/or Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory/Lecture Instruction
About the role
The Biology Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in laboratory instruction of Elements of Microbiology (BIOL 1151L) and/or laboratory/lecture instruction in Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II (BIOL 1107L & 1108L) beginning Fall 2026. These Biology department courses primarily serve students from the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies although other pre-health students also enroll. Teaching responsibilities are solely for laboratory sections among these three courses.
Requirements
- Completed M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology or a related field by August 2026
- Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching
- Experience teaching microbiology and Human Anatomy & Physiology at the undergraduate level
- Understanding and commitment to educating undergraduate students in the liberal arts tradition
- Ability to promote an equitable, diverse, and inclusive scientific community at Fairfield University
Additional Information
The Biology Department consists of twenty-five full-time faculty members representing a range of specialties and is housed in the Bannow Science Center on our Fairfield Campus. The Biology Department has a vibrant culture of undergraduate student-faculty collaboration in research, numerous departmental events and lecture series, and a large student interest in the health sciences.
