Visiting Assistant Professor, Chemistry, UC Blue Ash College
About the role
The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2026. This Visiting Assistant Professor position is for the 2026-2027 academic year only and is not eligible for the tenure track; however, this position could be extended into a second and final year if there is department need and available budget.
Essential Functions
- Teach an average of 12 contact hours per semester of lecture and/or lab courses for majors and non-majors.
- Courses may include general chemistry courses for science majors, general, organic, and biochemistry (GOB) courses for allied health students, and general education chemistry courses for non-science majors.
- Participate in ongoing professional development in the discipline of chemistry, chemical education, and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- This may involve attending conferences, workshops, or seminars, as well as engaging in scholarly activities such as publishing research or presenting at academic meetings.
- Participate in departmental service such as committee involvement or new course design.
- This could include serving on department committees, participating in curriculum development, or assisting with administrative tasks.
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related field with 18 credit hours of graduate level coursework in chemistry.
- This ensures that candidates have a strong foundation in the field and have completed advanced coursework relevant to their teaching responsibilities.
- One (1) academic year of college-level teaching experience (as the primary instructor) in chemistry or closely related field.
- This requirement ensures that candidates have practical experience in teaching and can effectively convey complex scientific concepts to students.
