Vis Lab Producer - Part-Time
About the role
The Ho Tung Visualization Laboratory & Planetarium seeks a creative and motivated producer to assist in the development of digital content supporting a wide range of curricula, including Colgate courses and research. The producer will collaborate with Vis Lab staff to create immersive visualizations, animations, and interactive modules for use in the planetarium and related educational initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Work both independently and as part of a collaborative production team
- Develop digital content for planetarium and educational initiatives
- Learn specialized techniques and workflows unique to fulldome and immersive content creation under the supervision of Vis Lab staff
Qualifications
- Strong interest in digital media, animation, visualization, or immersive technology
- Ability to work independently and manage creative projects
- Willingness to learn new software and technical production skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience with Blender, Adobe Creative Suite, Unreal Engine, or related tools
- Self-paced work style
- Knowledge of production workflow
- Working knowledge of computer software
- General knowledge of Astronomy/Earth Science or related field
Training
The position includes training in a variety of industry-standard software tools used in content creation, including Blender, Digistar programming, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Unreal Engine, and other visualization platforms. Prior experience with one or more of these programs is recommended but not required.
Schedule
The work schedule will vary with up to 20 hours per week.
