About the role
Average weekly hours range from 20 to 999, with holiday and weekend availability required. Shifts are available from Monday to Sunday, and from 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- Processes guest orders to ensure proper preparation and timely service.
- Presents, opens, and pours wine when serving guests.
- Observes diners to ensure satisfaction, responds to additional requests, and determines when the meal is complete.
- Total bills and accepts payment or refers guests to supervisors.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of the complete menu and beverages on hand, up-selling accordingly.
- Works on POS system in accordance with guidelines.
- Maintains cleanliness of cutlery, china, and glassware before setting on tables.
- Arrives ready to start work properly attired; full uniform and appropriate footwear.
- Ensures cutlery, china, and glassware are spotless before setting on tables.
- May assist bus person with stocking, removing, and resetting dishes and silverware between courses and cleaning and resetting vacated tables.
- Ensures all side duties are fully completed prior to the end of the shift as outlined and in readiness for the next meal period.
- Conducts oneself in accordance with Biltmore's goals, culture, service standards, and fundamental values.
- Maintains a clean working environment, adhering to sanitation, health, and safety standards.
- Lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls 25–50 pounds; lifts and carries 25-50 pounds on a large serving tray, above shoulder level, with one hand, bent in reverse 90 degrees.
- Runs their own food orders.
- May often serve in hot interior or exterior areas, and may work double shifts based on business demands.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Previous serving experience in a full-service restaurant required.
- The ideal candidate has at least six (6) months of related restaurant experience in a fine dining/upscale setting, preferably in a multi-unit resort.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering world-class guest service and anticipating and exceeding guest expectations.
- Excellent guest relations and communication skills, comfortable offering warm, sincere, and gracious hospitality to guests.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to handle a variety of guest service situations consistently with Biltmore standards.
- Terrific attention to details.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, guest service environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Biltmore standards.
- At least 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push, and pull 25–50 pounds; lift and carry 25-50 pounds on a large serving tray, above shoulder level, with one hand, bent in reverse 90 degrees.
- Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
- Exposure to hazards or physical risks requiring basic safety precautions.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- May often serve in hot interior or exterior areas, and may work double shifts based on business demands.
- Reserve or Flex servers may work more than 20 hours per week based on business demand.
