About the role
The Public Area Attendant will maintain and clean public areas within Biltmore standards at the Village Hotel on Biltmore Estate and offer exceptional guest service.
Responsibilities
- Upkeep and presentation of bathrooms, hallways, employee areas, pool area, terraces, verandas, fitness center, etc.
- Dusting, vacuuming, polishing furniture, and sanitizing bathrooms
- Floor care, ash urn maintenance, outdoor furniture care, and pool supply replenishments
- Deep cleaning projects within assigned areas
- Clean public areas in accordance with departmental standards, maintaining exceptional level of detail
- Proper and safe use of all chemicals, tools, and equipment
- Clean floors, windows, mirrors, glass, and furniture to standards; dust pictures and other items throughout the hotel
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, supplies, and care of elevators, drinking fountains, all guest and staff bathrooms, and outdoor areas including veranda, entrance, and terraces
- Keep pool area clean, safe, and linens replenished for guests
- Remove and maintain trash receptacles; maintain, clean, and replenish fitness center area
- Keep cart stocked and clean
- Offer guests assistance as required
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping position is preferred
- Previous experience in an upscale or luxury hotel or resort is ideal
- Commitment to delivering world-class guest service and ability to work successfully as part of a dynamic, guest-service-oriented team
- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to perform essential job functions with speed and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to safely handle and operate small commercial cleaning equipment, chemicals, solutions, and treatments
- Proactive with the ability to take initiative as appropriate
- Ability to anticipate and understand guest needs
- Ability to work independently and under deadlines, and exercise good judgment
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push, and pull 25–50 pounds frequently
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Endure various physical movements throughout work areas and over the duration of the work shift, such as kneeling, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead
- Ability to work in an environment that may include:
- Variable conditions and noise levels
- Outdoor environments with fluctuations in temperature and weather conditions
- Exposure to fumes, dust, chemicals, and moving mechanical parts
Schedule
Generally 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM. This is a flexible, on-call reserve position scheduled based on business needs and operational volume. Reserve employees typically work anywhere from 40–999 hours per year, depending on demand.
