About the role
The Northwest Arctic Borough Village Improvement Fund ("VIF") is dedicated to Borough villages for capital projects and improvements in services within the communities it serves. The VIF supports projects, infrastructure, and quality-of-life services for villages in the Northwest Arctic Borough. This role coordinates all efforts and information to and from the VIF commission, as established by the Northwest Arctic Borough Assembly. Responsibilities include coordinating meetings, public hearings, and commission information, as well as developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with external organizations, agencies, and individuals. The position also maintains an efficient and complete administrative record of village priorities.
Responsibilities
- Support program application processes and create administrative programs that align with VIF priorities and objectives.
- Work closely with all communities to develop relevant policies and procedures to effectively carry out the department’s objectives.
- Coordinate all meetings and public hearings of the VIF commission.
- Prepare the Village Improvement Fund Annual Report for Teck.
- Coordinate travel and other logistics for VIF commissioners and administration.
- Create meeting agendas and disseminate information for the VIF Commission.
- Work with individual VIF Commissioners on village priorities as requested.
- Conduct village meetings alongside Commissioners to assist in prioritizing projects.
- Report to the Assembly and administration on village projects prioritized by the VIF Commission for Assembly consideration.
- Collaborate with state and federal agencies to provide support for projects determined by the Commission.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
- At least 2 years of experience in municipal, tribal, or other governmental agency administration.
- At least 1 year of experience in public meeting and/or hearing coordination, with an understanding of municipal code requirements.
- Understanding of Public Meeting Act requirements.
- Demonstrated excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated excellent budgeting and planning skills.
- Demonstrated excellent facilitation, communication, and marketing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve Borough goals.
- Skills and experience to set up, coordinate, and support public meetings/hearings with local stakeholders and various agencies.
