Video Monitoring Technician Per Diem
Key Responsibilities
- Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
- Verbal redirection of patients from at-risk behaviors.
- Sums up the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance via communication device or STAT Alert Alarm.
- Supports patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
- Uses Video Monitoring (VM) software proficiently.
- Maintains visual observation at all times.
- Verbal redirection of patients using a digital 2-way audio device.
- Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
- Provides care based on the patient's individualized treatment plan as delegated by the RN.
- Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients.
- Explain to the patient as necessary, but does not consult or provide opinions.
- Behaves in line with Service Excellence.
- Seeks help or advice promptly if the patient poses a threat to themselves or others.
- Collaboratively identifies and reports patient safety issues.
- Affirms patient environment safety and removes potential safety hazards.
- Ensures patient environment safety.
- Keeps dedicated attention to observing patients with no distractions.
- Stays connected with audio and never takes off the headset.
- Never leaves the monitor station unattended.
- If stepping away, calls for backup first.
- No food or drink in patient care areas.
- Keeps workplace clean and tidy.
- No cell phone use in patient care areas.
- Maintains required documentation.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Effective verbal, electronic, and written communications skills using the English language.
- Computer proficiency required, including Microsoft office applications.
- Maintain variable work schedule to meet department needs (evenings, nights, holidays, weekends, and travel).
- Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations.
- Work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a member of a team.
- Anticipate challenges and develop strategies to address them.
- High level of service delivery.
- Initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing situations.
- Attention to detail.
