Vice President, Technology - Finance Platforms

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a multi-disciplinary engineering organization (developers, architects, QA, DevOps) delivering finance technology solutions globally.
  • Own the full technology lifecycle for finance platforms: vision → strategy → architecture → build → deploy → operate → optimize.
  • Drive agile delivery practices across your teams — iterative development, CI/CD, automated testing, and continuous deployment.
  • Design and evolve a scalable, resilient finance technology ecosystem that integrates multiple platforms and ensures reliable data flow.
  • Lead build/buy/integrate decisions for enterprise platforms in collaboration with the EA team, driving end-to-end execution from concept to production deployment.
  • Define and execute a multi-year technology roadmap for finance platforms, aligned with business priorities.
  • Drive platform consolidation and application portfolio rationalization to reduce complexity and maximize value.
  • Evaluate and apply emerging technologies (AI/ML) pragmatically to accelerate delivery and improve outcomes.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain strong engineering talent across globally distributed teams.
  • Establish engineering standards, delivery practices, and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the Global Head of Finance and finance leadership to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Build business cases for technology investments and present to executive leadership for approval.
  • Manage RFP processes, vendor evaluations, and contract negotiations for technology solutions.
  • Manage budgets for technology programs, ensuring cost efficiency and alignment with priorities.
  • Identify and remediate technical debt and architectural complexity to maintain system reliability.
  • Drive change management and adoption strategies to ensure successful rollout of new platforms.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership, translating technical progress into business outcomes.
  • Ensure security, reliability, and availability of finance platforms in production.

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with at least 5 years leading engineering or platform teams delivering enterprise software.
  • Proven track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams — not just managing vendors or projects, rather than actually growing technical organizations.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise platform architecture — integrations, APIs, data flows, cloud infrastructure, and system design.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud platform for enterprise workloads.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and execute a multi-year technology vision while delivering near-term results.
  • Executive presence and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, translating between technical and business contexts.
  • Experience leading globally distributed, cross-functional teams across time zones and cultures.
  • Proven ability to evaluate, select, and manage technology vendors and system integrators.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivery outcomes and operational excellence.
  • Experience with build/buy/partner decisions for enterprise platforms (ERP, data, reporting, integration tools).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with finance technology platforms (ERP systems, General Ledger, reporting tools, reconciliation platforms).
  • Background in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.
  • Familiarity with multi-currency operations, regulatory compliance, or financial reporting standards.
  • Understanding of audit processes and data governance frameworks for financial systems.
