About the Role

The Vice President of Finance reports directly to the Sr. Vice President / GM of TDI and works closely with other executives within Kratos to coordinate, plan, and organize the financial objectives of Technical Directions Inc. (TDI) as part of Kratos Unmanned Systems Division (KUSD). This role provides leadership and coordination of company and divisional financial planning, reporting, and Annual Operating Budget (AOP) functions, ensuring compliance with Kratos’ accounting principles and SOX requirements. The position offers professional finance guidance and support to all departments to ensure successful execution of assigned initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the TDI Finance and Accounting Department.
  • Direct and coordinate TDI financial planning and budget management functions.
  • Recommend benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
  • Monitor and analyze monthly and quarterly operating results against budget.
  • Oversee daily operations of the TDI Finance and Accounting Departments.
  • Manage the preparation of all financial reports, outlooks, and forecasts.
  • Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and acquisitions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements.
  • Maintain discipline and SOX compliance in all associated processes.
  • Adhere to the Kratos Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other corporate departments to establish and carry out financial responsibilities.
  • Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish departmental goals.
  • Serve on planning and policy-making committees, as requested.
  • Coordinate financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Represent the company externally to government agencies, auditors, and the general public.
  • Review and approve overhead rate updates, changes, and Forward Price Rate Agreements.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
  • Provide accounting policy orientation for new staff.
  • Assist with TDI ERP design and implementation, as necessary.
  • Manage TDI cash flow and financial commitments/service contracts.

Requirements

  • B.A. in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years combined accounting/strategic business development experience, including at least five years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Relevant experience in a DoD environment preferred.

Skills

  • Adherence to the Kratos Code of Conduct.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting, forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of government contracts regulations (CAS, FAR, etc.).
  • Thorough knowledge of project accounting, preferably in a DoD environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to conduct detailed analysis and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities and all levels of management.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to balance business considerations.
  • High integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.

  • Ability to report to work during customary or assigned working hours and adhere to workplace rules.
  • Ability to travel as required (10–25%, locally, domestically, or internationally).

Work Environment

  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with TDI General Safety Training guidelines.
